Absolutely vibes.. My first visit was a quick one for takeout, however everything from the exterior to interior screams good vibes only! Located just east of downtown, Canje is situated a developing East 6th St area. Discovered via word of mouth, I reached out to a peer for a must try spot in ATX, lo and behold Canje was the spot. Unfortunately, this visit I didn't get to dive down the menu as my taste buds would've like. I opted for some lighter options and went with the Oxtail Patties. PHEMNOMAL ladies & gentlemen, the flaky crust did it for me! Small, flavorful, flaky .. combined with the sauce they're served with I was thoroughly impressed. Fairly small and 2 for $15, I'd like to see them a tad bit bigger or make it 3/$15. Take out only took roughly ten or so minutes, considering I walked in. Things to keep in mind, make a reservation! The bar is fairly big with ample seating and the summer time patio is a great option as well. Canje, I'll definitely be back to run down the menu next time!!

This is one of the best restaurants in Austin and super reasonably priced. I come here every time I'm in town for business and the food never misses. The ceviche's are phenomenal, super bright and tasty. For mains, the wagyu, roti and fish are great choices and can even be shared if you get some sides. All in all, if you can score a reso here, definitely go. It is super loud AF inside though.

We came here yesterday to celebrate my birthday and my boyfriend told our server, Cali that we were celebrating and she really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We ordered the oxtail beef patties as our appetizer and they came out hot. The crust was flaky and the oxtail was very tender. The sauce that it came with was *chef's kiss.* For our entrees we ordered the curry beef and the jerk chicken along with the pepper rice, trini corn, and roti. Everything was so good. I wanted to keep eating but also wanted to save room for dessert. We ordered the plantain rice krispy treat. This one of the best and unique desserts I've ever tried. The benne seed ice cream was addicting. Overall, it was a great experience and perfect way to end my birthday.

Had made reservations for our team meeting, and we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time after showing up 10 minutes early! Our super energetic and excitable hostess suggested a few spirit forward cocktails, as we went ahead placing our order which included a few very delicious items. One cannot go wrong ordering the Smoked Avocado Escabeche ($13) - an absolute new dish to me, but was the best on the table. As a vegetarian this is best appetizer on their menu. The table did enjoy the Ceviche ($18) as well. While the menu for vegetarians is limited in option, the Sweet Potato ($20) is a good dish to order. It was the most enjoyable when it was warm, but as the potatoes started to cool down, the dish became slightly dry. No specific flavor punch to the dish, but enjoyable dish. Our table thoroughly enjoyed the Jerk Chicken ($34) and the Curry Wagyu Beef. We had also ordered a Guyanese Style Roti ($6) which took a long time to arrive; and the Cucumber Mango Chow was missing acidity and spice. Service was good, and noise levels were on the average end. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Omg! I can not begin to tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Originally, we were looking to dine at an establishment located next door to this one, but they had closed in observance of Independence Day. We saw several people entering this establishment and decided to check it out. I'm so happy we did! All of the indoor tables were booked up, so we opted to be seated at the bar. The menu is served family-style and consists of some small plates, larger entrees & sides. The staff will give you the full run-down on how that works. We chose to go with the Oxytail Patties (10/10; ordered a second round), the Jerk Chicken (10/10), the Roti (8/10) and the Fried Sweet Plantains (7/10; I wish they were a bit crispier). This meal was so many firsts for me. I'm almost ashamed to say that I've only ever had jerk chicken before at the Indiana State Fair. I've never had oxtail before this, nor have I had roti. I loved every bite, and the sauces were all delicious and quite complimentary to the dishes.

We came here for dinner Wednesday evening. They offer valet parking, which is super convenient. We had reservations for 8:30 PM but arrived early. They mentioned we could sit at the bar while we wait for our table at 8:30 or they had availability on the patio and we could have dinner out there instead. It was a nice evening and we opted for the patio. This place is such a mood packed with energy yet chill at the same time. The people that work here genuinely seem happy. When we received our menus, it was explained to us how to order. And after reviewing the menu and choosing our dishes, we received our drinks. I ordered the mango tequila shooter, which was delicious and wow, it did not taste like it had much tequila but trust me, it did. Our first dish arrived, the fish fritters, which were perfectly crispy on the outside with moist tender fish on the inside and a nice dipping sauce. Our main dishes included jerk chicken and wild boar along with street corn and roti (flatbread). Every single dish was phenomenal. The wild boar was tender with a delicious sauce, which paired perfectly with the roti as it is something you would want to sop up with your bread. The street corn had so many layers of flavor. It's hard to describe except that I would order this every time. The jerk chicken was moist and delicious with a nice heat. I love places that make you feel welcome and while they were busy, everyone seemed to know the menu that dropped by our table and truly seemed passionate about working there and about the food. All in all it was an experience, I look forward to repeating.

Food: 5/5 With 100% confidence, Canje is the top restaurant in the city right now! The Oxtail Beef Patty was one of the best foods I've ever eaten in my life. The ceviche was a great starter and greens were out of the this world. For the food alone, this place is a competitor for the best in Texas for a reason! Service: 5/5 Does it even get better than a drink while you wait for a table? I don't think so and the staff make sure you're all set! Our waiter was amazing and helped us plan out our courses for the night. Environment: 4/5 Clean, vibey, but super loud music! Wasn't a dealbreaker by any means, but it was difficult to hear other people at our own table.

I didn't have any expectations coming here, but wow - this place is insanely delicious for modern Caribbean food. Everything that my party ordered was so good. The jerk chicken, was extremely flavorful and it had the right amount of spices. If you like coconut curry, you must try the tilefish! The coconut curry was amazing and the crispy kale added some texture that made it fun to eat. The wild boar was good and the pieces just melted in my mouth. I would've liked the sauce to be a little thicker so I could dip my roti in it. The ceviche was light and flavorful. I love that they had dragonfruit in it. It was a different flavorful profile and I really enjoyed it. The roti was literally the star of the show. Everyone needs to order their own roti because you're not going to want to share it. The parking situation is a bit rough if you don't want to pay for valet. Street parking in that area in general is hard so good luck!

Amazing decor, amazing staff, and amazing food! Reservations are a must. We had a reservation for 515pm on a weekend. Decor was tastefully done throughout. Our server was fabulous- she answered all of our questions regarding the menu etc. The menu was a modern take on Jamaican food. Our tastebuds were introduced to many new flavors and spices. And if you know me, I love spicy! Per our server, she explained dishes are meant to be shareable. Being a party of 4 - we mostly ordered 2 dishes of an item, since they were considered small plates. Hurricane drink- tropical, fruity, but not too sweet. I could taste the alcohol and it did hit me pretty hard : D Out of all the dishes we ordered, my faves were the Accra de Morue - slightly salty fish fritters with a hint of spice And the Curry Wagyu Beef- delicious! Beef was melt in your mouth goodness, which we paired with the roti. Note: one roti is $6 ! Jerk chicken had a good spicy flavor and was not overcooked or dry. I don't know how they cooked it, but it was perfect. A little pricey though- half chicken $36. Excellent food and service. Slightly pricey for the amount of food. What was really cool- with the bill, they've added a Canje postcard that they will personally mail for you to whomever : )

Service was good and ambience was nice, except where we sat I felt like when it got darker outside didn't have enough light. Drink: Uncle Nearest Old Fashioned had a sweet taste to it which I LOVED! It tasted like a Sazerac, which I prefer over old fashioned. Appetizer: The Albacore Ceviche was my favorite dish of the night! It was citrusy, had some peanuts (so beware of allergies), and it also was sweet. Entree: Curry Waugh Beef was my second favorite dish of the night and highly recommend pairing it with the Roti! The Roti was so good that we ordered two of them. Ok hear me out here.. EVERYONE recommend the Jerk Chicken here so we got it, and while it was cooked well and very moist/tender, it was my least favorite dish. It was just plain, with some kick to it. The other dishes were way better in my opinion. Dessert: Tres Leches was so yummy! It had a fruity taste to it because of the strawberry and I loved it!
